It's been a while, sorry about that

Well, I didn't even get to post after UBC... sheesh I suck. Anywhoo, here's how it shook down:

Swim: 20:06 (which includes that super long sprint to T1, my swim time by my watch was 17:30)
Bike: 44:05 (which includes both T1 and T2, my bike time by my watch was 40min even)
Run: 28:00
Total: 1:32:09

Good enough for MOP (11/21 in my AG). PLUS as a huge bonus, I beat Khai both on the bike and overall. Now he owes me a double-double animal style at the first In-and-O
ut we hit on our way to Xantusia in May. ;-)

I felt pretty good on the bike, better than expected, I owe most of that to my spin classes with Arielle at Twist Conditioning. The run started slow and painful, but the legs loosened up and I finished pretty strong. Obviously I still need to take 2-4 min off that time, but it didn't feel as bad as I thought it was going to. The swim however, well, I should be a 16 or better swimmer for that distance. I have some serious work to do in the pool it seems. So with actual training, there's no reason why I can't get 5ish min off that total time.

My next race will be North Shore Sp
rint Tri, on the May long weekend. P is also doing that one - his first tri ever! He's been running 2-3 times a week for a while now, so he'll do OK. The swim will be the tough part for him, as it will be for me. Plus having never done one of these pool swim tris (NS has 5-10 folks in one lane doing laps with a lap counter) he will get PO'd at the other swimmers. Hopefully he just lets it go and uses his frustrations to blow by those folks on the bike.

Between now and then, we (me, P and Khai) are all going to a tri camp at Xantusia May 9-12th. We're driving down and back, so it should be hilarious. Ca
mp should be great, I know P will love riding out there. They are going to film our swim technique, so that should be pretty eye-opening. Ditto our run form. Bit scared at the prospect of seeing my big butt on Monty's giant TV, but it's time to suck it up and get the most from this camp.

The last few weeks have been busy though - we spent a week in Florida mid-Aprila few nights in South Beach and the rest in the Keys. We did some fishing, drank waaaaay too much, but we did get ONE run in, along the boardwalk on South Beach (at right). One thing I noticed while in Florida was how much better I slept, that my sinuses were basically clear all the time. At home, I have been struggling with really upset sinuses, dry, bleeding, can't breathe thru my nose during the night kind of sinuses. So this was quite a revelation to me, that humidity (or lack thereof) was the likely culprit for my sinuses issues. Bought a humidifier once we got home. It helps, I sleep a lot better.

I saw my Endocrinologist before we left on our trip, and she upped my dosage of synthroid to 125mcg. I think it's helping. I feel better, but running is the true test - how do I feel when I run? I have decided that I hate feeling like I have no energy in my legs, so I will just run slow as molasses if necessary - that is, run at a pace where I feel like I am not putting in a lot of effort. I am going to do that until camp, and see how it goes. The endo also recommended I seek out some complimentary medicine... soooo I have found a naturopath who says she thinks she can help. I am curious but somewhat skeptical. Trying to have an open mind.

goddammit - you know, I'm really not happy that you beat me on the bike. Maybe there's something to those spin classes you keep talking about. At very least, they've got to be better than my winter program of SFA. :) No excuses though - you were the better athlete that day, no question about it.

Get ready for the ultimate humiliation however - for I pledge to beat your run time (as well as overall) @ the North Shore. That's right, girl - this is a smackdown on YOUR home turf! Can you live down getting outrun by Khai?

Shit bro, I accept your challenge. I want to beat you overall, and since you'll have me in the pool, I'll have to be close to you on the bike for sure. That leaves little to no room on the run. This should be close!
